As time permits, I will be sorting my stock and placing a small gallery of bakelite and wood table radios on view. The majority of the Bakelite and wooden radios I will be listing for sale are sets that have been Completely Restored.

"Completely Restored" includes a full electronic rebuild:

• Chassis cleaned and de-rusted
• All moving parts lubricated
• Dial cord restrung if necessary
• Volume, tone and band selection controls cleaned... replaced if necessary
• Speaker repaired or replaced if necessary
• All paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced... micas also if necessary
• Out of spec. resistors replaced
• Light bulbs replaced if necessery
• Any unsafe internal wiring replaced
• Line cord replaced.... for resistance cords, a voltage dropping network may be installed for safety
• Tubes replaced if necessary
• Full alignment
• Minimum 24 hour bench test will be performed

"Completely Restored" also includes a full cabinet resurrection:

• BAKELITE CABINETS
  • All old paint will be stripped off the cabinet
  • Any cracks will be repaired - see repairs section
  • Any gouges will be repaired - see repairs section
  • Any missing bakelite will be replaced - see repairs section
  • Surface will be prepped and painted - enamel finishes will be oven baked
  • Feet/sliders will be replaced
  • Grill cover material will be cleaned or replaced as required
  • Any metal trim will be polished prior to installation

   

• WOODEN CABINETS
  • All old finish will be stripped off the cabinet
  • All joints will be reglued
  • Salvageable veneer will be salvaged and reattached
  • Damaged veneer will be replaced - not in small sections...nothing less than a panel
  • Surface will be prepped and finished
  • Feet/sliders will be replaced
  • Grill cover material will be cleaned or replaced as required
  • Any metal trim will be polished prior to installation
